0G Labs, the Layer 1 blockchain for AI, has launched V3 of its testnet. The new Galileo testnet introduces a host of improvements over its predecessor, including a 70% boost in network speed.
The V3 testnet moves 0G closer to its mainnet launch, which will form a decentralized AI operating system for an array of data-intensive applications. Galileo gives dapp developers a clear idea of the sort of scalability and performance they can look forward to, including throughput of up to 2,500 TPS.
The speed increase incorporated into V3 is achieved with the aid of improvements to the network’s CometBFT consensus. While transaction finality time remains similar to V2, processing speed has been dramatically increased.
Galileo also enables builders to take advantage of the newest EVM capabilities from upgrades such as Shanghai and Cancun-Deneb. As a result, they can create more advanced smart contracts and benefit from enhanced data handling for optimized performance. V3 of the 0G testnet will also support the latest features set to be introduced through Pectra.
As a fully new testnet deployment over Newton (V2), Galileo requires developers to acquire new test tokens from a V3 faucet that has been created. They will also need to redeploy their existing smart contracts and update wallets with Galileo’s unique RPC and Chain ID data. However, users of 0G Storage and 0G Compute do not need to amend their existing code since these products will be updated to ensure V3 compatibility.
0G Labs CEO Michael Heinrich said: “Web3 developers want to work with the frameworks and tooling to which they’re accustomed, but without being constrained by existing storage and resource limitations. 0G V3 gives them that, combining the EVM functionality they know and love with access to compute, storage, and throughput that will empower them to create the AI-powered applications they’ve always dreamed of.”
The Galileo testnet offers a significantly faster, more capable, and future-ready environment for developers building on 0G. It features the latest EVM standards coupled with robust architecture while ensuring a smooth transition for users of integrated 0G services.
Thanks to radically improved architecture versus V2, Galileo is forward-compatible with future EVM upgrades, ensuring developers can leverage the latest features to create sophisticated dapps. The release of the V3 testnet gives developers access to a fast and smart Layer 1 network that will form the backbone for a wave of data-rich AI applications.
